Sudan Zero Waste Organization Participates in Multi-Sector Needs Assessment Mission in Abu Qouta

Sudan Zero Waste Organization (SZWO) participated in a joint multi-sector needs assessment mission in Abu Qouta locality, alongside humanitarian partners and local authorities, to assess the humanitarian needs of communities affected by flooding caused by water leakage from the main irrigation canal in rural Abu Qouta.
The mission conducted an initial assessment of the damage affecting schools and public service facilities, while identifying priority humanitarian needs across key sectors to support the planning of an effective emergency response.
As part of its immediate response, SZWO distributed school notebooks and learning supplies to 300 affected students, helping them continue their education and reducing the impact of the emergency on children.
The organization also carried out a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) needs assessment, evaluating water sources and sanitation services in the affected areas to identify urgent needs and inform future interventions in coordination with humanitarian partners and the relevant authorities.
